EGE Haina carries out the first issuance of Gold Standard carbon credits for the Girasol I Solar Park

EGE Haina advances its climate strategy with the issuance of 204,060 Gold Standard carbon credits (GS VERs), associated with the injection of sustainable energy into the grid from the Girasol I Solar Park.

 

From Enerion Global, we supported EGE Haina comprehensively throughout the entire process, providing our technical and strategic expertise for the proper structuring, registration, and issuance of the carbon credits, as well as for the international validation of the project under one of the most demanding standards in the voluntary carbon market.

 

As part of this joint effort, the “EGE Haina Solar” Programme of Activities (PoA) was also successfully registered — a platform that will enable the development and certification of more than 300 MW of solar capacity in the Dominican Republic through multiple large-scale projects, laying the foundations for structured expansion aligned with the highest international standards.

 

With an installed capacity of 120 MW, Girasol I was developed in a particularly challenging context, during the COVID-19 pandemic period, and became the first solar project in the country to incorporate solar tracking systems (trackers), marking a significant technological milestone for the national energy sector.
